Why Soft Bristled Toothbrushes Are The Best
Your brushing style might be hard and fast or nice and easy, but no matter how you brush a soft bristled brush is always the best choice! Harder bristles can actually damage your teeth and gums, so always select a soft bristled brush!
Why Brush Twice A Day?
Brushing too frequently can actually harm your enamel, especially if you do it right after eating! Plaque bacteria love to eat the sugars in your teeth and produce acids that weaken your enamel. Brushing right after a meal can actually damage your teeth due to soft enamel!
Why Brush For Two Minutes?
At least two minutes – that’s the best recommendation. Two minutes gives you enough time to pay attention to each tooth without spending too much time on them and damaging your gums! Make sure you brush all the surfaces of each tooth!
Floss In The Evening For Success!
At the end of the day you have three meals and some snacks worth of plaque buildup. Flossing between each tooth can clean the dirtiest spots in your mouth and protect you from hidden tooth decay that’s impossible for your brush to get!
Sports Drinks Are Worse Than Soda?
Surprisingly, yes! They’re loaded with sugar and you usually drink them when you’re a bit dehydrated. The less saliva in your mouth the more sugar hangs around and can damage your teeth! Tests also showed that sports drinks eat away at teeth faster than soda, diet soda, or energy drinks! Yikes!
Sugar, Bacteria, And Acid
Your plaque – that sticky white film – is full of bacteria. When they get some sugar they go into a feeding frenzy, creating acid that eats away at your teeth and can harm your gums as well! We recommend always following a sugary or starchy snack up with a nice, big glass of water!
Fluoride Is An Amazing Tooth Protector!
Fluoride actually rebuilds lost enamel, making it critical to your oral health! Fluoride remineralizes your teeth and protects them from tooth decay – and it actually makes them stronger to boot! Fluoride is safe, effective, and should definitely be in your toothpaste! It’s probably already in your water!
See The Dentist Every Six Months!
A six month checkup is the ideal timeframe in which to catch new problems. They won’t have had a chance to get bad but they’ll be noticeable and will be at the perfect time for intervention! Waiting any longer can result in tooth decay and gum disease!
Your Child’s First Dentist Visit
Baby teeth are incredibly important to long-term oral health! We recommend getting your child to the dentist by the time their first tooth comes in or by their first birthday, whichever comes first. You can also bring them to your appointments so they feel safe and comfortable in our care environment!
