Dr. Trae Pappas has advanced training in implantology, advanced cosmetics, veneers,
periodontal surgery, endodontics (root canals), and pediatric care.
Dr. Pappas is a native of the Emerald Coast and grew up in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where he attended Fort Walton Beach Senior High. He went on to Louisiana State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with a minor concentration in business management. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans, where he graduated at the top of his class.
Modern dentistry is a rapidly advancing field, and Dr. Pappas stays on the cutting edge. Dr. Pappas and the team at Panama City Smiles are finding ways new to understand and maximize the body’s healing capacities while incorporating newer, stronger, and more esthetic materials. He has been awarded his Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and has been a member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, and the National Dental
Practice-Based Research Network.
Dr. Pappas fell in love with dentistry because it is an amazing balance between art and science. He regularly attends courses and seminars at the local and national level, spends countless hours every week reading the latest dental journals, and studies to stay advanced on the newest techniques and technologies. He believes it is necessary to deliver the highest standard of care to his patients.
Dentistry has historically had a negative connotation with the general public, and Dr. Pappas loves changing that one patient at a time. Dental pain can be a terrible experience, and Dr. Pappas serves to deliver relief in a timely, compassionate manner.
Dr. Pappas is an avid sportsman who enjoys all the coast has to offer, whether fishing, surfing, kiteboarding, or paddleboarding. When he’s not outdoors, he enjoys going to church, practicing the piano, and playing with his Boykin Spaniel, Ellie Mae.
As a dentist, Dr. Pappas encourages and guides others to a state of greater oral and overall health. He also feels it’s his moral obligation to help others in need. When possible, he volunteers his time and talents to charities. In 2014, he was able to deliver oral hygiene supplies and instructions to more than 70 orphans in the mission project Hope to Haiti, which he encourages others to support.
He also served on a board to aid the Emerald Coast Autism Center in their effort to build a new school on the Northwest Florida State College campus.
Dr. Pappas is excited to welcome you to our dental family!
