If you’d like to improve the appearance of your gums and teeth, visit Panama City Smiles in Panama City, FL for cosmetic dentistry procedures called teeth contouring and crown lengthening. Dr. Patel and Dr. Pappas have completed extensive continuing education courses to provide the beautiful results you expect!
Teeth Contouring Explained
Are your teeth misshapen or chipped? Do some appear longer than others? We can fix all of these issues with a fast teeth contouring treatment.
We will simply remove a small amount of your tooth surface to smooth chips and give your teeth their ideal shape.
Crown Lengthening Explained
Do one or more of your teeth look too small or too short? To give your teeth their ideal look, trusted Panama City, FL dentsits Dr. Patel and Dr. Pappas can perform a minor surgical procedure called crown lengthening.
We will remove and/or reshape excess gum and (sometimes) bone tissue to expose more of your natural tooth surface. We may do this on one tooth to prepare for a restoration (like veneers or a dental crown) or on a series of teeth to improve the look of a gummy smile.
Following Your Crown Lengthening Procedure
After your crown lengthening procedure, we will give you specific instructions on how to minimize your discomfort, speed the healing process, and prevent infection or other complications. Here are some general guidelines:
- Take prescriptions, over-the-counter pain medications, and antibiotics as directed.
- Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling.
- Eat a soft diet, and avoid chewing in the affected area.
- Use a saltwater rinse to gently rinse your mouth.
- Report any excessive pain or bleeding to our office immediately.
You will return to Panama City Smiles for a follow-up appointment at our Panama City, FL dental office so we can check the healing progress.
